Learning

I'm learning to say thank you.
And I'm learning to say please.
And I'm learning to use Kleenex,
Not my sweater, when I sneeze.
And I'm learning not to dribble.
And I'm learning not to slurp.
And I'm learning (though it sometimes really hurts me)
Not to burp.
And I'm learning to chew softer
When I eat corn on the cob.
And I'm learning that it's much
Much easier to be a slob.

My Kite

My kite flies high,
I wonder how and why.
With a long tail and wings,
See how my kite swings!
Holding its thread in my hand,
I feel so happy and grand.

My new school things

The blue ring is for my family
Where we all smile happily.
The yellow ring is for my friends
Where we all hold our pens.
The red ring is for my school
Where we all follow the rules.
The last ring is for me
What color should it be?
Pink, white or gold
Oops! My new things are already old.

My test isn't signed
Because somehow
My parents went blind

"I cannot go to school today,"
Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
"I have the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash and purple bumps.
My mouth is wet, my throat is dry,
I'm going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
I've counted sixteen chicken pox
And there's one more—that's seventeen,
And don't you think my face looks green?
My leg is cut—my eyes are blue—

My neck is stiff, my voice is weak,
I hardly whisper when I speak.

My elbow's bent, my spine ain't straight,
My temperature is one-o-eight.
My brain is shrunk, I cannot hear,
There is a hole inside my ear.
I have a hangnail, and my heart is—what?
What's that? What's that you say?
